Last year, we faced a challenging time during our first JESSD Symposium, conducting a symposium amidst a pandemic. That was our first time conducting an online symposium. However, we were surprised by the enthusiasm of 260 participants from 23 countries and 116 reviewers from 30 countries who helped us conduct this symposium. We accepted 260 papers, of which 97 short papers were successfully published in E3S and indexed in Scopus in December 2020; and 138 short papers were successfully published in IOP: Earth and Environmental Science and indexed in Scopus April 2021. In addition, 25 full papers are also published in journal regular issues. We are enthusiastic to continue managing this event every year to contribute to the development of science.

This year, we are going to hold the 2nd JESSD Symposium on September 25th-26th, 2021. We sincerely invite all interested national and international experts and enthusiasts from universities, institutions, organizations, businesses, and the communities themselves to connect and transmit knowledge about numerous topics such as:

1. Earth science
2. Energy
3. Environmental science
4. Sustainable Development Goals/SDGs, and
5. Special issues: Community Engagement & COVID-19

1. Full price in accordance to the guidelines on https://symposiumjessd.ui.ac.id/registration-fee/ if you receive grant/funding;
2. Get a 30-40% discount off the official price should you not get grant/funding of which the grant will be used to pay for publication fee to the publisher;
3. Pay more than the official price, if you are willing. This symposium uses the principle of cross-subsidization so that all the excess payments from participants who are willing to pay more will be used to subsidize other participants.
