ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCY POLICY

A. Introduction

In response to digital innovations within the scholarly publishing ecosystem, Reswara Jurnal Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat establishes a transparent policy regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in manuscript writing, editing, and peer-review processes. This policy is designed to preserve the originality, confidentiality, and academic integrity of our community service publications.

B. Guidelines for Authors

  1. AI Authorship Prohibition: Generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) do not meet the criteria for authorship because they cannot hold legal responsibility for the originality, validity, and integrity of the manuscript content. Therefore, AI must not be listed as an author or co-author.
  2. Permitted Scope: Authors are only permitted to use AI to improve manuscript readability (e.g., spelling, grammar, or writing style editing). AI must not be used to replace scientific judgment, draw conclusions, formulate project recommendations, or fabricate evaluation data.
  3. Mandatory Disclosure: Authors must declare transparently whether generative AI tools were used in preparing the manuscript. This statement must be placed under the specific declaration section at the end of the manuscript before the References, and filled in consistently within the OJS metadata.

C. Guidelines for Editors

  1. Limits on Editorial Decisions: Editors are strictly prohibited from using generative AI tools to replace scientific judgment or as the primary basis for making editorial decisions (such as accepting or rejecting submissions).
  2. Confidentiality: Editors must not upload submitted manuscripts into third-party AI platforms to protect the author's intellectual property and the integrity of the review process.

D. Guidelines for Peer Reviewers

  1. AI Prohibition in Evaluation: In compliance with national accreditation guidelines, Peer Reviewers are strictly prohibited from using AI during the peer-review process.
  2. Scope of Prohibition: Reviewers are banned from utilizing AI technology for:
    • Analyzing the content of community service manuscripts.
    • Evaluating manuscript quality or scoring eligibility.
    • Drafting peer-review comments, feedback, or recommendation.
  3. Confidentiality Protection: Reviewers must not upload any manuscript or parts of a manuscript under review into third-party AI applications to maintain the strict double-blind review system.

E. Ultimate Accountability

The use of AI tools by Authors or Editors does not reduce their respective accountability for the originality, confidentiality, editorial decisions, and overall academic integrity of the published work.
