R-W-C-R-R Policy

R-W-C-R-R Policy

This policy governs the official procedures regarding Retraction, Withdrawal, Correction, Removal, and Replacement (R-W-C-R-R) for manuscripts submitted to or published in Dharmawangsa: International Journal of The Social Sciences, Education and Humanities.

1. Article Retraction

We are committed to maintaining the integrity of the scientific record. Consequently, published articles may be retracted under the following circumstances:

  • Significant Scientific Errors: Unreliable conclusions resulting from honest errors (miscalculations or experimental mistakes) or scientific misconduct (data fabrication).
  • Redundant Publication: Research or findings published elsewhere without proper cross-referencing, justification, or authorization.
  • Ethical Violations: Severe plagiarism or improper authorship attribution.

Retractions are processed in strict compliance with COPE Retraction Guidelines following these steps:

  1. Articles requiring potential retraction are reported directly to the Editor in Chief.
  2. The Editor evaluates the issue following COPE flowcharts, including reviewing author responses.
  3. Findings are submitted to the Ethics Advisory Board for formal review and approval.
  4. The final decision is communicated to the author and their institutional representatives if necessary.
  5. A formal Retraction Statement is published online and featured in the next available journal issue.

Note: Author copyright ownership does not grant the right to unilaterally retract a published article. The integrity of the public scientific record takes precedence under COPE guidelines.

2. Article Withdrawal

Authors do not possess unilateral authority to withdraw submitted manuscripts once processing has begun, as significant editorial and peer-review resources are invested. Strict penalties apply to unauthorized withdrawals:

  • Withdrawal During Review: Requesting manuscript withdrawal during the peer-review process results in a permanent submission ban for the author(s).
  • Withdrawal After Acceptance: Withdrawing a manuscript after formal acceptance results in a two (2) year blacklist.
  • Withdrawal of "Article in Press": Withdrawing an article already processed as "Article in Press" due to ethics violations, duplication, or author request results in a three (3) year blacklist. The article content will be replaced by an official withdrawal notification page.
  • Official Submission Requirement: All formal withdrawal requests require an official letter signed by the author and the corresponding institutional head addressed to the Principal Editor.
3. Article Correction

Corrections are issued when honest errors affect specific parts of a publication without invalidating its overall scientific conclusions. Corrections are categorized into three types:

  • Publisher Correction (Erratum): Issued to notify readers of a significant error introduced by the editorial or publishing team affecting the record or veracity of the article.
  • Author Correction (Corrigendum): Issued to notify readers of an author error that impacts the scientific integrity of the work or author reputation.
  • Addendum: Published by the author to clarify inconsistencies, expand on the current research, or update critical details in the original work.
4. Article Removal

Article removal from online platforms occurs only under extraordinary legal circumstances, such as defamatory content, infringement of legal rights, or court orders. Article metadata is retained while text content is replaced with an official removal notice.

5. Article Replacement

If a flawed paper is retracted, the author may be permitted to publish a corrected replacement version. The original retraction notice remains active, featuring a direct link to the corrected re-published article alongside its document history.
