Abstract

This study analyzes the implementation of effective learning
of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) subjects at Dharmawangsa High
School in Medan, identifies obstacles, and proposes solutions. PAI
plays a strategic role in shaping students' religious character and
noble morals, so its effectiveness is crucial. Using a descriptive
qualitative approach, data were collected through observation,
teacher-student interviews, and documentation studies. The results
show a variety of learning strategies (lectures, group discussions,
hands-on practice, digital media), but these are hampered by internal
factors (low motivation and self-confidence) and external factors
(limited facilities, family roles). Solutions include a participatory
approach, individual guidance, and an interactive learning
environment. The findings emphasize the role of teachers as adaptive
facilitators for a conducive environment. This study contributes to the
development of effective, relevant, and contextual PAI strategies.
