Abstrak

This study aims to examine in depth the thoughts of Muhammad Abduh and his influence on the contemporary Islamic education system, particularly in the context of the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Studies at UIN North Sumatra. Through a qualitative approach based on a literature review of fifteen valid scientific journal sources, this study found that Abduh's ideas of rationality, ijtihad, curriculum reform, integration of religious and scientific knowledge, and rejection of blind imitation are strongly relevant to modern educational principles. Abduh's ideas encourage the Islamic education system to transform into a more dynamic, inclusive, and contextual system. The results of this study show that Abduh's ideas are not only historically relevant but also form the philosophical foundation for the development of Islamic education based on character, reason, and spirituality.
